About Us
  The Bury St. Edmunds Group was formed in 1977.  It organises a programme of guided walks led by experienced leaders.  It also organises a number of social events.
Joining the Ramblers' Association
Our walks are designed for Members of the RA.  However, non-members are encouraged to join our walks and may do so for up to three or four such occasions.  After that they are expected to take out membership of the Association.  To join click here.
What we do.
 

The Ramblers Association exists to facilitate, for the benefit of everyone, the enjoyment and discovery that walking outdoors can bring and to promote respect for the life of the countryside.The association encourages; walking; protects rights of way; defends the beauty of the countryside; and has campaigned for many years for freedom to roam over uncultivated open country. The association is a voluntary organisation and is a Registered Charity (No. 1093577).

General Conditions applying to our Walks.
  1. The Bury St. Edmunds Group cannot accept any responsibility for any form of injury or damage suffered by anyone participating in our walks.  All participants are responsible for their own safety and well being.

2. Participants are responsible for providing their own equipment such as first aid, clothing items, refreshment, etc., as they may deem necessary.

3. If a walk involves a stop at a Public House, participants of the walk should not eat their own food in the pub car park.  Remember that the landlord is doing us a favour in using his car park facilities.

4. If a lift is required, the person concerned should seek the advice of the walk Leader.  Lifts cannot be guaranteed and if such a lift is provided, members should consider making some contribution to travel expenses.

5. In severe weather such as fog, snow, heavy rain storms etc., intending participants should check with the Leader to see if the walk is going ahead.

6. Dogs may be brought on walks provided always that they are kept on a lead at all times and that the owner walks at the rear
